Will this be the year the Cavaliers return to the playoffs?
Well, before any of that, they need to tip off the regular season, aiming to build off last season’s pleasant surprise of just barely missing the postseason.
And according to Hoops Wire sources, the Cavs’ season will begin on Oct. 19, when they pay a visit to the Raptors. The full NBA schedule will be revealed Wednesday afternoon, the league announced. So we will know for sure then.
Cleveland is coming off a 44-38 finish in which it placed eighth in the Eastern Conference. Aside from some big injuries to key players, it was an overall banner year — with the likes of Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen becoming All-Stars, and Evan Mobley a member of the All-Rookie first team.
Coach J.B. Bickerstaff and the Cavs are aiming to build off that promise, as even NBA commissioner Adam Silver took notice, saying they have a “real rosy” future.
Meanwhile, the Raptors are coming off a run to the playoffs, finishing 48-34, good enough for fifth in the East. They were eliminated from the playoffs by the 76ers in the first round.
