The reigning Eastern Conference champion Celtics will face the 76ers in Boston on Oct. 18 to tip off the 2022-23 NBA season, as relayed by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
That game will be the first of a TNT doubleheader, with the second featuring the Lakers on the road against the reigning champion Warriors, as we relayed here.
Of course, what remains to be seen is who is actually playing for the Celtics. Odds are, it will be much like the same cast as last season — Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, and noteworthy newcomer Malcolm Brogdon, acquired in a trade with the Pacers.
Meanwhile, the 76ers again feature the likes of Joel Embiid, James Harden and Tobias Harris.
That said, both teams have been linked to available Nets star Kevin Durant in trade rumors — especially Brown and the Celtics. So things could undoubtedly change between now and the start of the season.
The NBA schedule is expected to be released in its entirety Wednesday afternoon. You can check out all the reported leaks on Hoops Wire at this link.
