Timberwolves forward Taurean Prince was arrested Thursday on a fugitive warrant at Miami International Airport, per multiple reports, including Andy Slater of Fox640.
Prince was booked into jail custody in Miami Dade County and reports suggest he was arrested on a warrant originating in Texas. Slater reported the warrant was drug-related, though that has yet to be confirmed and details are limited at the moment.
“We are aware of the alleged report regarding Taurean Prince and are in the process of gathering more information,” the Timberwolves said in a statement.
Prince, 28, is 6-foot-6 and was acquired by the Timberwolves in the Ricky Rubio trade with the Cavaliers prior to the start of last season. He averaged 7.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in 69 appearances last season, playing in five playoff games.
He signed a two-year contract extension earlier this offseason, with the second year of the deal being non-guaranteed. “That deal includes a guaranteed base salary of $7.1MM for 2022/23, with $195K in likely incentives and another $870 in unlikely incentives for the coming season,” noted Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors.
Along with the Timberwolves and Cavs, Prince has spent time with the Nets and Hawks.
