For the past several months, we’ve heard chatter of a potential trade involving the Jazz and the Knicks, centered on Donovan Mitchell.
More recently, there’s been talk of the Lakers getting involved as a third team to help the Jazz send Mitchell elsewhere. And in those rumors, we occasionally hear the name of Knicks small forward Cam Reddish mentioned.
Actually, Reddish has been the subject of trade rumors since before the Mitchell news began to surface, way back in June.
Well, apparently the Knicks aren’t just exploring ways to move Reddish. Per Marc Berman of the New York Post, Reddish himself would like to move on. And the Lakers just happen to be interested, Berman added.
Whether the Jazz will get involved, it’s hard to tell. But you’d think with all the conversations they’re having, they very well could. Plus, as mentioned, Reddish has been linked to this speculation previously.
One thing we do know is he never received much of an opportunity with the Knicks after being acquired via the Hawks back in January.
Meanwhile, the Lakers’ interest dates back to February, when they reportedly discussed a three-way Reddish trade that also involved the Raptors.
Reddish, 23, is 6-foot-8 and averaged a career-low 6.1 points in 15 games with the Knicks. He missed some time with injury, but never really seemed to fit under coach Tom Thibodeau.
“The Knicks didn’t have a plan for him,” an NBA source told Berman. “They traded for him without one and still don’t have one. He would like a bigger opportunity somewhere.”
Interestingly, Reddish’s birthday was Thursday. From the sounds of things, he very well could be asking the Knicks will grant him a parting gift.
