The Suns plan to waive Koby Brea, opening a two-way roster spot while they look for additional frontcourt help, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Duop Reath could fill that opening. The veteran center remains on an Exhibit 10 contract, and Phoenix has previously been linked to converting his deal to a two-way agreement. That move has not been confirmed.
The Suns need depth at center with Mark Williams recovering from August surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder. Moving on from Brea would give them a way to address that need without using a standard roster spot.
Brea, the No. 41 overall pick in the 2025 draft, appeared in 12 games for Phoenix as a rookie. He averaged 3.8 points in seven minutes per game and shot 43.3 percent from three in that limited NBA action.
The former Dayton and Kentucky guard played a larger role with the Valley Suns, averaging 16.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 34 G League appearances. He attempted 10 three-pointers per game, connecting on 34.9 percent.
CJ Huntley and Pat Spencer occupy Phoenix’s other two-way spots. If the Suns proceed with Reath, they would be exchanging a young perimeter shooter for another option at an injury-depleted position.
