How happy was All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell when he heard about his trade from the Jazz to the Cavs?
Well, so much that he apparently dropped his clubs and “went screaming around the golf course” upon learning of it, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, via RealGM.
More specifically, Mitchell was cheering on the fact he was headed to Cleveland, and the likes of Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen and Kevin Love were all still on the team, and not involved in the trade.
Windhorst, a former Cavs beat reporter, added that Mitchell is “extremely excited in this moment. I’m sure he would love to have been a (New York) Knick, that’s his hometown. But he’s extremely excited in the moment.”
The Cavs finished 44-38 last season and just barely missed the playoffs.
Mitchell, 25, is 6-foot-1 and has spent his entire career with the Jazz. He averaged 25.9 points, 5.2 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 67 games last season. He is a three-time All-Star.
