Hornets rookie Kon Knueppel added his name to the record books Thursday night.
Knueppel knocked down his 207th three-pointer of the season against the Pacers, setting a new NBA rookie record. He reached the mark in just 59 games, breaking the previous record set by Kings forward Keegan Murray, who needed 80 games in 2023.
Knueppel said he was not chasing history.
“It’s really just about making the right basketball play,” he said, via ESPN. “My teammates are setting good screens and setting me up in good spots. The coaches as well. I’m just out there looking to make the right play for my team.”
The shooting display drew praise from Stephen Curry, the league’s all-time leader in made threes in a season.
“He can obviously shoot the ball at a high level,” Curry said. “You can’t really leave him open at all as he has such a quick release and shoots with confidence. And his play-making is very underrated.”
