The Denver Nuggets are making a change at the end of the roster.

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Denver plans to waive two-way guard Tamar Bates and sign forward David Roddy to that spot ahead of Wednesday’s deadline.

Roddy, 24, was the 23rd overall pick in the 2022 draft and has appeared in 168 NBA games across stops with the Memphis Grizzlies, Phoenix Suns, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers and Houston Rockets.

The former Colorado State standout hasn’t been on an NBA roster this season. He spent training camp with the Toronto Raptors before being waived and has since played with Raptors 905 in the G League.

In 34 games there, Roddy averaged 12.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 39.2 percent from three-point range.

He also recently suited up for USA Basketball in World Cup qualifying games, scoring 28 total points across matchups with the Dominican Republic and Mexico. Roddy led Team USA with 20 points in Sunday’s win over Mexico.

Meanwhile, Bates’ rookie season was derailed by injury.

The undrafted guard out of Missouri signed a two-way deal with Denver last summer but underwent surgery in December to repair a fractured left foot. He hasn’t played since.

Before the injury, Bates averaged 19.6 points for the Grand Rapids Gold in the G League while shooting an efficient .550 from the field and .442 from three.

Roddy will be eligible to appear in up to 11 games for Denver the rest of the regular season but will not be eligible for the postseason.
