The Denver Nuggets have signed veteran point guard Tyus Jones for the remainder of the season, the team announced Thursday, making a reported deal now official.

Jones will earn $814,552 over the rest of the year, while Denver carries a cap charge of $514,682.

The move had been expected since Sunday, when ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Jones planned to join the Nuggets after being waived by the Dallas Mavericks.

Jones, 29, retained playoff eligibility because he was released before the league’s deadline.

Known for his steady play and low turnover rate, the 11-year veteran holds career averages of 7.3 points and 4.3 assists. He has appeared in 738 games with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Memphis Grizzlies, Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic and Mavericks.

Denver had one open roster spot and used it to add backcourt depth for the stretch run.
