Former No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz is getting another chance. Just not in the NBA. At least not yet.

Toronto’s G League affiliate, Raptors 905, has claimed Fultz off waivers after he signed an NBAGL contract, according to Michael Grange of Sportsnet.

Fultz, the top pick in the 2017 draft, has battled injuries throughout his career and has appeared in just 255 NBA games with the Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic and Sacramento Kings.

He played 21 games for Sacramento last season, averaging 2.9 points and 1.3 assists in limited minutes. The move simply adds depth to Raptors 905 after several recent NBA call-ups.

Still, it could lead to something more.

The Raptors are believed to be exploring veteran guard options for their open roster spot, and Fultz could at least put himself on the radar with a strong showing in the G League.
