The Philadelphia 76ers will likely be without Joel Embiid for at least a few more games.

Embiid has already missed three straight with a strained right oblique and is expected to sit out at least four more contests, according to Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.

The Sixers said Embiid did not participate in Friday’s practice and has yet to resume on-court work. The plan is to reevaluate him in about a week.

That timeline would keep Embiid out Saturday in Atlanta, Monday in Cleveland, Tuesday against Memphis and likely Thursday in Detroit as well.

Injuries have again limited Embiid this season. He has appeared in just 33 games while dealing with issues involving his knee, ankle, shin and now his oblique.

Even so, he has still produced when available. The former MVP is averaging 26.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field.

There was at least one positive update for Philadelphia.

The Sixers expect Kelly Oubre Jr. to return Saturday after missing two games with an illness.

Rookie guard VJ Edgecombe did not practice Friday after suffering a lumbar contusion earlier in the week, leaving his availability uncertain.
