The NBA’s push toward expansion — and potentially a European league — could come with a massive financial payoff.

According to Sportico, adding teams in Las Vegas and Seattle, along with launching an NBA Europe concept, could generate $20 billion or more for owners. Expansion fees alone are projected around $15 billion, with another $5 billion tied to a European venture.

There’s another layer to it.

Expansion revenue is not considered basketball-related income, meaning it isn’t shared with players. If both plans move forward, each ownership group could receive roughly $650 million or more.

Project B Emerging

There’s also movement on a separate front.

As The Athletic reports, a developing global league known as Project B continues to take shape, with ties to agent Misko Raznatovic and LeBron James’ longtime business partner Maverick Carter.

The league has already reached agreements with several women’s players and is aiming to expand into the men’s side, with a focus on attracting current and former NBA talent, as well as top international prospects.

Holmes Leaves Europe

Former NBA center Richaun Holmes has parted ways with Panathinaikos after one season, the club announced.

Holmes, who played 10 years in the NBA, dealt with an MCL injury during the year and saw his role decline after returning. He averaged 7.9 points and 4.3 rebounds in EuroLeague play.

Transaction Rankings

Over at ESPN, Zach Kram ranked the best and worst moves since last offseason.

The Hornets selecting Kon Knueppel at No. 4 topped the “best” list, while the Bucks waiving and stretching Damian Lillard to sign Myles Turner landed among the worst.
