The season is over for the Warriors. Now comes everything else.
Stephen Curry didn’t shy away from it after Friday’s elimination, as relayed by Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic.

The past matters. The future matters more.
“Before you win the title, you’re building the foundation,” Curry said. “Then you accomplish it, and everything else is based off that.”
Since 2015, that’s been the standard. Now? Maybe it’s time to reset it.
Curry suggested the Warriors need to get back to the basics. Not just chasing championships in theory, but actually building the kind of team that can compete every night in today’s NBA.
Faster. Younger. More athletic.
“Can we build the foundation again?” he said.
Kerr Factor
Of course, none of this happens without clarity on Steve Kerr.
His future is still up in the air after 12 seasons on the job. He sounded open to returning. Also sounded like a guy who might be ready to walk away.
Curry admitted one moment stood out. Late in the loss, Kerr pulled him and Draymond Green aside and thanked them.
“I was kind of fighting it,” Curry said. “It was definitely weird.”
Understandable. That’s not usually how those moments go. Still, it meant something.
“Regardless, we’re human beings,” Curry said. “You have to acknowledge each other.”
For what it’s worth, multiple sources told Thompson they expect Kerr back next season. But that call belongs to Kerr.
Curry’s Timeline
As for Curry himself, he’s not thinking about the end just yet.
According to Nick Friedell of The Athletic, the two-time MVP wants to play at least two more seasons and is open to an extension this summer.
He’s entering the final year of his deal at $62.6 million and believes his knee issues won’t be a long-term problem.
So yes, he’s planning on sticking around.
Draymond’s Situation
Green’s future is a little less clear. He holds a $27.7 million player option and made it known he wants to stay. But he also understands how this works.
“I don’t know,” Green said. “I’m not retiring.”
He added that he hopes he’s done enough to remain with the only franchise he’s ever known. That part may not be entirely up to him.
What’s Next
The offseason is coming, and there’s plenty on the table.
Per Bobby Marks of ESPN, the Warriors could be under the luxury tax for the first time in years. That opens some doors.
It also brings decisions. A potential rookie extension for Brandin Podziemski is one of them.
So this isn’t just about Kerr. Or Curry. Or Green. It’s about where the Warriors go from here.
And whether this next version looks anything like the last one.
