One of the biggest questions facing the Warriors this offseason is simple.
Namely, what does Steve Kerr want to do next?
Kerr has been on the Golden State sideline for 12 seasons. He’s won big. Built a culture. Coached one of the all-time greats in Stephen Curry.
And, well, that last part seems to matter most.
“I don’t want to walk away from Steph,” Kerr said after the season, via The Athletic. “I’m definitely not going and coaching somewhere else next year in the NBA. I would never walk away from Steph, but all the stuff has to be aligned and right.”
So there it is. Kerr isn’t looking to jump to another team. This isn’t about chasing a new job. It’s about whether everything still fits with Golden State.
That includes the roster. The direction. And, yes, his partnership with Curry.

Kerr has said in the past that much of the Warriors’ success stems from the fact he and Curry see the game — and plenty beyond it — the same way. That doesn’t just happen everywhere.
That said, it appears there’s no sense of urgency. Not from Kerr. Not from the organization.
“It’s April,” a team source told ESPN. “We don’t need to rush.”
Makes sense. But let there be no doubt, this decision will help shape everything that comes next for the Warriors.
