The Timberwolves are in control. Minnesota beat the Nuggets, 112-96, on Saturday to take a 3-1 lead in the series.
But the final seconds? That’s what people were talking about.
The game was over. Or at least, it was supposed to be.
A late layup from Jaden McDaniels didn’t sit well with Nikola Jokic, and suddenly there was a brief scuffle near the bench.
Words were exchanged. Bodies got close. Jokic and Julius Randle were both ejected.
Afterward, Nuggets coach David Adelman didn’t sound pleased with how it played out. But he also didn’t think it rose to the level of discipline.
“Obviously, I didn’t like what McDaniels did. The game was over,” Adelman told reporters, via The Denver Post’s Bennett Durando. “That stuff just doesn’t happen anymore.”
”But that’s who he is.”
Adelman said he doesn’t expect any suspensions, adding he didn’t see anything out of line beyond the moment itself.
Minnesota has now won three straight and can close out the series in Game 5 on Monday in Denver.
As for the tension? Yeah, that may carry over a little.
