Pacers to target wing help, bench scoring

The Pacers aren’t tying their offseason to lottery luck — or lack thereof. The plan was already in place.

General manager Chad Buchanan said the focus is on adding offense to the second unit, with an emphasis on the wing.

“One thing this season revealed for us is the need for some scoring off our bench,” Buchanan said, via Tony East of Forbes. “Probably from the wing position.”

The trade of Bennedict Mathurin highlighted that need. Indiana believes it still has depth, just not enough punch behind the starters.

“We still have some holes to fill,” Buchanan said.

A backup center upgrade is also on the table as the Pacers explore both free agency and the trade market.
