The Memphis Grizzlies apparently weren’t fans of the NBA’s new anti-tanking reforms.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the league’s Board of Governors approved the NBA’s sweeping new “3-2-1” draft lottery changes by a 29-1 vote Thursday.
Memphis was reportedly the lone team to vote against the proposal.

The timing is at least somewhat interesting considering the Grizzlies own the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
Under the NBA’s newly approved format, the lottery will expand from 14 to 16 teams while also flattening odds and penalizing the league’s three worst teams with reduced chances at landing the No. 1 pick.
The changes are designed to discourage blatant tanking after league officials grew increasingly frustrated with the number of teams jockeying for lottery position late this past season.
The new system is expected to begin with next year’s draft and remain in place through at least 2029.
Memphis, meanwhile, clearly had some reservations.
