NBA Notes: Warriors, Kristaps Porzingis, Blazers, Matisse Thybulle, LeBron James

Warriors

The Warriors are optimistic about re-signing Kristaps Porzingis to a more team-friendly deal this offseason, per Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

That’s not a surprise given what Golden State paid him last season. Porzingis made $30.7 million and appeared in just 32 regular-season games. The Warriors would like a better return on that investment.

If a new deal falls through, Golden State would likely enter the center market looking for help elsewhere. Either way, they need more from that position next season.

Trail Blazers

Matisse Thybulle‘s future in Portland is unclear, according to Keith Smith of Spotrac.

The 29-year-old swingman appeared in just 30 games this season and sits behind several other wings on the depth chart. Smith projects his value at roughly $8-10 million per season, which may be more than the Blazers are willing to spend unless they move some of those other wing players first.

Portland has a lot of decisions to make this offseason. Thybulle may not be part of the long-term picture.

Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus is going bold with some of his offseason projections, and a few are worth paying attention to.

Pincus predicts the Pistons re-sign Jalen Duren to a five-year, $200 million deal starting at $34.5 million. He also has the Hawks bringing back CJ McCollum on a two-year, $40 million contract with a team option.

And then there’s this one: Pincus predicts LeBron James signs with the Warriors on a two-year deal worth $30.8 million, starting at the $15 million non-taxpayer mid-level exception.

LeBron. Golden State. Stephen Curry. Draymond Green.

Bold? Absolutely. But stranger things have happened in this league.
