Mavericks continue to reject trade interest in Kyrie Irving

The Mavericks continue to receive inquiries about Kyrie Irving, but don’t expect them to entertain those conversations anytime soon.

According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, teams have been calling the Mavericks to gauge Irving’s availability. Thus far, however, Dallas has maintained that the veteran point guard is not on the market.

That stance aligns with comments made by new Mavericks president Masai Ujiri, who has repeatedly expressed a desire to see Irving share the court with franchise centerpiece Cooper Flagg.

While the pairing may seem unusual given the age difference between the two players, Ujiri reportedly remains intrigued by the idea of Irving helping guide Flagg through the early stages of his NBA career.

Stein reported that both the Timberwolves and Pistons are known to have interest in Irving. The Rockets, meanwhile, have not been among the teams making inquiries.

Irving, 34, missed last season after suffering a torn ACL and remains one of the league’s biggest wild cards entering the offseason. When healthy, he continues to rank among the league’s most gifted offensive players and remains capable of changing a team’s ceiling.
