The Timberwolves continue to be linked to some of the biggest names in the NBA as they search for ways to upgrade a roster built around Anthony Edwards.
According to Sam Amick and Eric Nehm of The Athletic, Minnesota president of basketball operations Tim Connelly has shown “some level of interest” in both Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving and Grizzlies star Ja Morant.

The report came as part of The Athletic’s broader coverage of the latest Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors and did not specify whether the Wolves’ interest in Irving and Morant is ongoing or stems from previous exploratory discussions.
Either way, the names are noteworthy.
Irving remains one of the league’s most dynamic offensive players, though he’s currently recovering from a torn ACL suffered last season. By the time the 2026-27 campaign begins, he will have been sidelined for more than a year and a half.
Morant, meanwhile, remains one of the NBA’s most explosive talents when healthy. But injuries have limited the Grizzlies guard to just 79 games over the past three seasons, creating questions about both his availability and long-term value.
Minnesota has already been connected to a variety of potential roster upgrades this offseason after another solid year built around Edwards. The organization has made no secret of its desire to remain in the Western Conference contender conversation.
Whether either Irving or Morant ultimately becomes available remains to be seen.
