Blazers emerging as most aggressive Jaylen Brown suitor

The Trail Blazers appear to be one of the busiest teams in the market for Jaylen Brown.

According to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, Portland is the team most frequently described by league sources as “actively” pursuing the Celtics star.

The Trail Blazers have been linked to Brown for weeks, with Stein and Fischer noting their interest dates back to Damian Lillard’s first stint with the franchise. Portland also reportedly identified Anthony Davis as a fallback option after missing out on Giannis Antetokounmpo.

While the Blazers continue to monitor Brown’s situation, the Rockets no longer appear to be in the mix. Stein and Fischer reported Houston hasn’t spoken with Boston recently and isn’t actively pursuing a deal for the four-time All-Star.

Detroit, meanwhile, remains another team to watch. As Hoops Wire relayed previously, the Pistons and Celtics have discussed the framework of a potential trade centered around Jalen Duren, though nothing is believed to be close.

Boston has spent much of the offseason evaluating Brown’s trade market after unsuccessfully attempting to use him in a package for Antetokounmpo.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Celtics have also informed interested teams they’re seeking at least four first-round picks in any deal involving Brown.

Even so, Boston is expected to move Brown only if it receives a package that allows the club to remain in championship contention around Jayson Tatum rather than beginning a rebuild.
