NBA Rumors: Lakers, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Walker Kessler, Jazz, Clippers

Lakers

The Lakers continue to zero in on Jazz center Walker Kessler.

According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, there’s a growing belief around the league that Los Angeles will sign free-agent forward/center Sandro Mamukelashvili and guard Quentin Grimes.

Even then, the Lakers reportedly aren’t done.

Stein added that Kessler remains Los Angeles’ top offseason target.

Landing the restricted free agent won’t be easy, however. The Lakers would either need to work out a sign-and-trade with Utah or convince Kessler to sign an offer sheet the Jazz choose not to match.

Jazz

The Jazz continue to hold the cards in the Walker Kessler sweepstakes.

According to The Athletic’s Tony Jones, Kessler has already met with multiple teams since free agency opened and has received offers in the mid-to-high $30 million annual range, some of which include player options.

Despite the outside interest, Utah still owns matching rights.

Jake Fischer of The Stein Line reported the Jazz previously offered Kessler a five-year contract worth roughly $140 million, though negotiations reportedly stalled after his camp viewed the proposal as a take-it-or-leave-it offer.

The Lakers are among the teams pursuing Kessler, while they have also been linked to Pistons restricted free agent Jalen Duren.

Clippers

The Clippers have retained one of their young wings.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Los Angeles has agreed to a four-year deal worth approximately $11.2 million with restricted free agent Kobe Sanders.

The Athletic’s Law Murray reported only the first two seasons are guaranteed.

Sanders averaged 7.3 points while shooting better than 40 percent from three-point range as a rookie after beginning the season on a two-way contract.

The Clippers still have restricted free agents Bennedict Mathurin and Jordan Miller to address as free agency continues.
