If you’re wondering whether NBA executives know where LeBron James plans to sign, the answer appears to be… not really.
According to Joe Vardon of The Athletic, executives from teams pursuing James told the publication Thursday at Summer League that they’re still largely in the dark.

One general manager reportedly put it this way:
“We really don’t know. We just know what we read.”
Another admitted he hasn’t even spoken with James. There was one interesting wrinkle, though.
Vardon reported that executives believe the only team official to have had direct contact with James during free agency is Cavaliers assistant general manager Brandon Weems, one of LeBron’s closest lifelong friends.
Weems was also spotted with James during the July 4 holiday in Akron, something that has already generated plenty of speculation.
None of it confirms Cleveland is getting James.
It also doesn’t rule out Miami, Philadelphia, Golden State, Minnesota, Denver or Dallas, all of whom have been linked to him throughout the process.
In other words, just about everyone is still waiting.
Maybe the most telling quote came from one executive who admitted his own friends keep asking where LeBron is headed.
“I don’t have to lie to them,” he said.
Neither does anybody else. At least not yet.
