NBA Notes: Bucks, Tyler Herro, Timberwolves, Trey Lyles, Cedi Osman

Bucks

Bucks newcomer Tyler Herro wasn’t exactly shocked when the Heat traded him. In fact, he said he expected it.

“I saw it coming,” Herro said, via Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald. “If any summer, it was going to be this summer.”

Herro ultimately landed with his hometown Bucks as part of the blockbuster deal that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami. He said he understands why the Heat made the move, acknowledging the franchise’s desire to chase another championship.

“Miami is an organization that wants to win championships,” Herro said. “It makes sense for them to want to get a fresh start, get someone like Giannis and build from there.”

Herro’s comments came just hours before reports surfaced that he and former teammate Bam Adebayo were involved in an altercation during a workout in Las Vegas. The confrontation reportedly stemmed from social media posts and alleged direct messages that were critical of Adebayo.

Despite the trade, Herro said Miami will continue to be home for his family during the offseason.

Timberwolves

The Timberwolves have officially signed veteran forward Trey Lyles to a one-year contract.

Lyles returns to the NBA after spending last season with Real Madrid, where he helped the Spanish powerhouse reach the EuroLeague championship game while shooting better than 44 percent from three-point range.

Minnesota had been looking to add frontcourt depth after agreeing to trade Julius Randle and Naz Reid earlier this offseason. According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, signing Lyles won’t affect the Timberwolves’ pursuit of free agent LeBron James.

Lyles, 30, has appeared in 650 NBA games with the Jazz, Nuggets, Spurs, Pistons and Kings.

International

Former Cavaliers forward Cedi Osman is on the move again.

According to Stavros Barbarousis of Eurohoops, Osman is joining Greek club PAOK after Panathinaikos accepted a buyout offer.

The move comes after reports had linked Osman to a return to Turkish powerhouse Anadolu Efes, though that deal never materialized.

Osman averaged 12.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in EuroLeague play last season, continuing a productive run overseas after his NBA career.
