Lakers
The Lakers may not be done tweaking their roster.
According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, Los Angeles has expressed interest in veteran wing Matisse Thybulle as it continues searching for perimeter defense.
Thybulle, 29, has battled injuries over the past two seasons, appearing in just 45 games. But when healthy, he’s long been regarded as one of the NBA’s premier perimeter defenders, earning All-Defensive second-team honors twice during his time with the 76ers.
The challenge for the Lakers is financial.
After using up their cap space and room exception, Los Angeles can offer only a veteran’s minimum contract unless it completes a sign-and-trade. The Lakers also continue to monitor Warriors restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga, Stein reported, meaning additional roster moves could still be on the horizon.
Heat
The Heat are bringing back one of their developmental big men.
Center Vladislav Goldin has re-signed with Miami on a two-way contract, according to the NBA transaction log, with Michael Scotto of HoopsHype first noting the move.
The 25-year-old spent most of last season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, averaging 12.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.9 blocks while appearing in 31 G League games.
Goldin saw limited action with the Heat, appearing in nine NBA games, but Miami evidently liked what it saw enough to retain him.
As Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported, Goldin simply accepted the team’s two-way qualifying offer after becoming a restricted free agent.
The Heat have now filled two of their three two-way roster spots.
Free Agency
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl is taking his talents overseas.
As relayed by Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors, the former NBA forward has signed a two-year contract with Greek club Aris B.C. after exploring NBA opportunities during free agency.
The 25-year-old appeared in 219 NBA games with the Thunder, Pelicans, Pacers and Mavericks, most recently splitting last season between Indiana, Dallas and the G League.
While Robinson-Earl posted impressive numbers in the G League, averaging 16.7 points and 11.7 rebounds for the Texas Legends, a long-term NBA opportunity never materialized.
Instead, he’ll continue his career in Greece, where Aris has been busy this offseason, also adding former NBA players Kostas Antetokounmpo, Khem Birch and E.J. Liddell.
