Sixers

The Sixers didn’t waste any time addressing one of their biggest needs in free agency.

As Adam Aaronson of the Philly Voice noted, Philadelphia made former Cavaliers forward Dean Wade its top priority when the market opened, valuing his defensive versatility, floor spacing and willingness to do the little things for a roster already loaded with offensive firepower.

Aaronson also wrote that backup center Ariel Hukporti gives the Sixers more size and rim protection than Andre Drummond, though the young big man will need to cut down on fouls to carve out a consistent role.

Bulls

Bulls rookie Caleb Wilson only strengthened the excitement surrounding his future during Summer League.

Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times pointed to Wilson’s impressive all-around production, as the No. 4 overall pick averaged 23.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.5 blocks while shooting 41.9 percent from three-point range in four games.

Wilson acknowledged there are areas to improve, particularly at the foul line, but said his approach is simple.

“I enjoy basketball,” Wilson said. “I’m going to play as much as I can… As long as I don’t have an injury or something that’s wrong with me, I’m gonna play every time.”

Heat

The Heat made the splashiest move of the offseason by acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo, but questions remain about their outside shooting.

Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel wrote that Simone Fontecchio could quietly help address that concern after returning on a one-year veteran’s minimum contract.

Fontecchio is a career 36.7 percent shooter from beyond the arc and could benefit from the open looks created by defenses focusing on Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.
