Lakers waive Peter Suder to make room for Arthur Kaluma

The Lakers have made room for one of their Summer League standouts.

According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Los Angeles has waived rookie guard Peter Suder, clearing a two-way roster spot to officially sign forward Arthur Kaluma.

Suder joined the Lakers shortly after going undrafted out of Miami (Ohio), where he was named the MAC Player of the Year after helping lead the RedHawks to a perfect 31-0 regular season. He averaged 14.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting 54.6 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from beyond the arc during his final college season.

His NBA Summer League stint, however, didn’t go as planned.

Suder averaged 5.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists across six games in the California Classic and Las Vegas while shooting 33.3 percent from the field.

Still, his time with the Lakers organization may not be over.

According to McMenamin, the Coachella Valley Lakers would welcome Suder back as an affiliate player in the G League. However, the undrafted rookie is expected to explore other opportunities before making a decision.

Kaluma’s arrival leaves Chris Manon and AK Okereke as the Lakers’ other two-way players.
