The Cavaliers are bringing Mario Hezonja back to the NBA.
Hezonja has agreed to a one-year, $2.8 million contract with Cleveland, agent Michael Tellem of Excel Sports Management told Shams Charania of ESPN.
The former No. 5 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft has spent the past six seasons overseas after last appearing in the NBA in 2019-20. According to Charania, Hezonja drew strong interest from both the Cavaliers and Warriors before choosing Cleveland.
Hezonja, 31, is expected to have a key role on the wing for a Cavs team coming off a trip to the Eastern Conference finals.
Cleveland had been linked to Hezonja throughout the latter stages of free agency, and ESPN’s Brian Windhorst recently identified him as one of the names to watch after LeBron James chose the 76ers. Now, the Cavs have their man.
