Lakers sign Anton Watson to Exhibit 10 contract

The Lakers are bringing Anton Watson back for another look.

Los Angeles signed the free agent forward to an Exhibit 10 contract, Dan Woike of The Athletic reported.

Watson, who turns 26 in October, also attended training camp with the Lakers last year before being waived ahead of the regular season. This agreement could follow a similar path, with Watson eventually returning to their G League affiliate.

If waived, he would be eligible for a bonus worth up to $91,000 if he spends at least 60 days with the Coachella Valley Lakers. His contract could also be converted into a two-way deal, although Los Angeles does not currently have an opening.

Watson appeared in 50 combined games for the affiliate last season, averaging 11.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 50.0 percent from the field.

The 54th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Watson previously made nine brief appearances for the Knicks. Now the former Gonzaga standout gets another September opportunity with the Lakers.
