Micah Nori’s first Blazers practice went fine. Then he forgot to end it.

Micah Nori waited a long time to run his first NBA practice as a head coach. Apparently nobody told him he also had to end it.

The Blazers wrapped up a nearly three-hour opening practice Tuesday, only for players and assistants to stand around waiting for the customary closing huddle. Eventually, someone reminded Nori that perhaps they should break it in, according to Joe Freeman of The Oregonian/OregonLive.

“Oh, yeah,” Nori replied. “That sounds good.”

Welcome to the big chair. Nori laughed about the moment afterward, saying “there’s nowhere to go but up,” but by all accounts the actual basketball portion went considerably better. Damian Lillard said Nori appeared comfortable and seasoned running the workout, while the new coach praised several players after a fast-paced session heavy on running and scrimmaging. 

Portland has made no secret of its expectations. The Blazers are talking openly about winning 50 games, with Lillard, Ja Morant, Deni Avdija, Toumani Camara and Donovan Clingan among the combinations Nori used extensively together Tuesday. Blazer’s Edge

So practice No. 1 is officially in the books. Someone just may need to remind Nori when practice No. 2 is over.
