Mike Brown, Kings Starting to Click, Have Won 7 of 9

No one was really sure what to think when Mike Brown became coach of the Kings over the summer. Based on previous coaching stints with the Cavaliers and Lakers, it was pretty clear Brown wanted his teams to play an ugly style of basketball.

But right now, Sacramento basketball has become a thing of beauty. That could be evidenced when they racked up a whopping 153 points in regulation in Tuesday’s 153-121 rout of the Nets.

And the Kings are doing it with teamwork and confidence, starting with the likes of point guard De’Aaron Fox, forward/center Domantas Sabonis, shooting guard Kevin Huerter and small forward Harrison Barnes. Oh, he bench has been pretty good lately — with reserve shooting guard Terence Davis erupting for 31 points vs. the Nets.

“It’s a great feeling,” Brown told reporters. “It’s why we are a team. … We have had guys contribute on multiple nights off the bench. Sky is the limit when you start to have that happen.”

Fox added that the Kings are all-in on Brown’s share-the-wealth approach.

“We feel like every game is winnable regardless of who we’re playing,” Fox said, via Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee.

The Kings haven’t made the playoffs since 2006 — before the invention of the iPhone, for those keeping score at home.

But perhaps this is the season that changes. Right now, it’s pretty clear that Brown has the Kings believing in good things. And now, they’re actually bringing all that hope to life.
