Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love has a hairline fracture in his right thumb and is doubtful for Sunday’s home game vs. the Heat, the team announced in a press release.
Love suffered the injury during the third quarter of the Cavs’ double-overtime win over the Hornets on Friday. An MRI on Saturday revealed the extent of the injury.
Love, 34, has appeared in all 15 games this season, averaging 11.1 points and 7.4 rebounds, shooting 43 percent from the field. He is the last remaining member the Cavs’ championship team of 2016.
The Cavs (9-6) are also without forward Dean Wade (knee), meaning their depth in the frontcourt very well could be challenged. There has yet to be an indication when Wade might return. As for Love, right now, it appears he is considered day-to-day.
They snapped a five-game skid with the win over the Hornets and entered Saturday’s games sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
