Warriors small forward Anthony Lamb has been accused of rape in a civil lawsuit filed against the University of Vermont, with the suit alleging that it mishandled procedures related to sexual harassment and violence on campus, per Alex Simon of the Bay Area News Group.
Lamb has not been arrested or charged and denies any involvement.
“I have always been fully cooperative regarding the alleged incident, and have welcomed any investigation into the matter,” he said, via Simon. “Simply put, I have never committed sexual assault.”
The woman who filed the lawsuit is a former Vermont swimmer who had a relationship with Lamb. She accused him of raping her in 2019.
“Anthony is not a defendant in this recent lawsuit and, to our knowledge, he has never been charged with any wrongdoing in any legal case,” the Warriors said in a statement. “Prior to signing Anthony in September, we did our due diligence with the NBA and his prior teams, as we do with all players. If any new information comes to light, we will certainly evaluate it and act accordingly.”
Lamb, 24, is 6-foot-6 and signed a two-way contract with the Warriors in October. He has played well when given the opportunity, averaging career-highs of 5.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 18 appearances (through Thursday). He is also shooting 51 percent from the field.
Lamb went undrafted in 2020, and has also served short stints with the Rockets and Spurs.
