The Kings have officially announced they have signed guard/forward PJ Dozier to a 10-daqy contract, as relayed by Sean Cunningham of KTXL Fox40.
Dozier, 26, is 6-foot-6 and appeared in 18 games with the Nuggets 2021-22 before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
He went to training camp with the Timberwolves but did not make the final roster. He has since been playing with the Iowa Wolves of the G League.
Per James Ham of The Kings Beat, Sacramento views Dozier as an intriguing defensive-minded wing. Also, Kings assistant Jordi Fernandez is quite familiar with Dozier, given their three seasons together with the Nuggets, where Fernandez was also an assistant, Ham noted.
Dozier averaged 7.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in his last healthy NBA season, appearing in 50 games with Denver in 2020-21. He has also served brief stints with the Celtics and Thunder.
This season, he’s averaged 14.4 points and 6.8 rebounds for Iowa in 13 G League games.
