The Heat are signing undrafted rookies Javonte Smart (LSU), A.J. Lawson (South Carolina), and RJ Nembhard (TCU), according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
In addition, Miami is adding undrafted free agent Micah Potter (Wisconsin) on an Exhibit 10 contract, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Exhibit 10 deals are considered “make-good” contracts that are usually at least good for training camp.
Mostly, undrafted rookies are added for Summer League rosters that give teams a nice look at some possible diamonds in the rough or G League additions.
The Heat brought some players on Exhibit 10 deals to training camp last season and that is surely again the plan.
