The Wizards are taking trade calls on guard/forward Will Barton after he has fallen out of coach Wes Unseld Jr.’s rotation, per Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.
Barton, 32, was acquired by the Wizards in an offseason trade with the Nuggets and is on an expiring $14.4 million contract. Per Haynes, Wizards GM Tommy Sheppard is not actively looking to trade Barton at the moment.
But, of course, that could change.
Barton is 6-foot-6 and averaging 7.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists on a career-worst 38 percent shooting in 36 appearances. His 20.2 minutes per game are his lowest since the 2014-15 season.
Last year as a regular part of the rotation with the Nuggets, he averaged a career-high 14.7 points in 71 games. So clearly, he still has something to offer, perhaps just not in Washington.
The No. 40 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, Barton spent the first three seasons of his career with the Trail Blazers, followed by eight with the Nuggets.
