Lakers
The Lakers have an eye on Bulls guard Zach LaVine as a potential trade target ahead of the Feb. 9 deadline, per Zach Lowe of ESPN.
“The name that’s become more interesting to me as this season has gone on and it’s become clearer and clearer that the Bulls are not going to get it together is LaVine,” Lowe said, via Peter Dewey of Lakers Daily. “I know there has been some thought about with people around the Lakers as a potential trade slash, ‘(LaVine) is kind of our cap space acquisition.'”
- The trade for forward Rui Hachimura may have taken the Lakers out of the running for Nets star Kyrie Irving in free agency, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
- Hachimura will be a free agent and the Lakers intend to sign him to a contract extension, as we relayed here.
- Per Scotto: “The acquisition of Hachimura means it’ll be tougher for the Lakers to chase star free agents, including Irving, according to rival NBA executives who spoke with HoopsHype. The move makes it less likely the Lakers will use cap space because bringing Hachimura back would significantly decrease it.”
Bulls
- The Bulls aren’t looking to trade LaVine, or small forward DeMar DeRozan, sources have told Hoops Wire, and as we relayed here.
- As we also relayed via Marc Stein of The Stein Line, center Andre Drummond and guard Alex Caruso are said to be the Bulls who are mostly available. (Full post.)
- The Warriors and Knicks are two teams with an interest in Caruso, sources told Hoops Wire. Also, several sources indicated the Hornets could have an interest in Drummond.
Bucks
- As we relayed here and again written by Scotto, the Knicks have trade interest in Bucks shooting guard Grayson Allen. But so far, the Bucks have been hesitant to include Allen in a potential trade for Knicks forward Cam Reddish.
- The Bucks have instead “kicked around the idea” of a second-round pick and “salary filler” for Reddish, per Scotto, who listed center/forward Serge Ibaka and guard George Hill as possibilities.
- The Bucks and Suns continue to seek a third team to help facilitate a trade centered on Phoenix forward Jae Crowder, as we relayed here.
