As expected, the Cavaliers and power forward Kevin Love have finalized an agreement on a contract buyout, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Love, 34, will now have to wait the 48 hours to clear waivers before officially entering free agency. Once he does, the Heat have emerged as the frontrunners to sign him, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. He will also talk with the 76ers, per Wojnarowski.
The Lakers and Suns have also “kicked the tires” on the possibility of adding Love, a league source told Hoops Wire, and the Warriors have had interest, too.
Love is averaging career-lows of 8.6 points and 6.8 rebounds in 41 appearances. He did not get off the bench once in the final 12 games before the All-Star break — which will now be his final 12 games as a member of the Cavs.
He spent nine years with the franchise and was the lone remaining member of the 2016 championship team.
