Clippers’ Paul George Suffers Apparent Leg Injury

Clippers forward Paul George suffered an apparent right leg injury during the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s loss to the Thunder and had to be carted out of the arena with his leg extended, as relayed by Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.

“He’s still being evaluated right now,” coach Tyronn Lue said after the game. “But I did see (the replay of the injury). I didn’t even know it looked like that until (an assistant coach) just showed me, so I didn’t even know (what happened).”

George suffered the injury when going up for a rebound against Thunder wing Luguentz Dort, landed awkwardly, then fell to the floor with 4:38 remaining in the game. He needed assistance getting to the locker room.

The Clippers (38-35) are fighting for playoff position and currently sit in fifth place in the Western Conference, a game back of the fourth-place Suns. Los Angeles had won five of six entering Tuesday.

“We’ll see,” forward Kawhi Leonard said when asked how the Clippers will adjust if George is out for a while. “We got a group of guys that still want to win, that like to play basketball, so we’ll see what happens.”

George, 32, is averaging 23.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists, shooting 46 percent from the field and 38 percent on 3-pointers in 55 games.
