Duke point guard Tyrese Proctor is sticking with school — for now.
Proctor, a potential first-round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, is opting for another season with the Blue Devils, he told Adrian Wojnarowski and Jonathan Givony of ESPN.
“This is the best decision for my career, both present and future,” Proctor said, via ESPN. “Coach (Jon Scheyer) and I share the same vision; we have unfinished business. We have the best staff in the country, and they will push me each and every day.”
Proctor, 18, is 6-foot-5 and is viewed as a possible lottery pick (top 14) in next year’s draft. He averaged 9.4 points, 3.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds in 36 games as a freshman this season.
The Blue Devils were eliminated by Tennessee in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
“It’s all about winning, and that starts this summer,” Proctor told ESPN. “Having a full offseason on campus will be extremely valuable for my continued development, and I am looking forward to leading our talented incoming class.”
