Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal is under investigation by the Orlando Police Department after an incident involving a fan after a game on March 21, as relayed by David Purdum of ESPN.
Following the Wizards’ loss in Orlando that night, a fan reportedly yelled in Beal’s direction that Beal had “made me lose $1,300,” according to the police report, via Purdum.
Beal walked over to the friend of the man, and swatted his hat off, making contact with the left side of the man’s head, the police report stated.
Police reviewed footage of the confrontation and the complaint states it’s been determined that “probable cause exists to charge Beal with simple battery.” Charges are expected to be filed with the state attorney’s office.
Meanwhile, the fan can be heard apologizing as Beal said that this is his job and he takes it seriously, via Purdum.
“We are aware of the report and in the process of gathering more information,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass said in a statement.
The Wizards (33-42) sit in 11th place in the Eastern Conference entering Tuesday night, three games back of the 10th place Bulls for the final play-in spot.
