Cavaliers wing Isaac Okoro took part in practice both Wednesday and Thursday, but there’s still nothing definitive on if he will suit up for the first game of the playoff series vs. the Knicks.
Game 1 is Saturday in Cleveland. Okoro missed the final few games of the regular season with a bone bruise in his knee.
All coach J.B. Bickerstaff was able to offer was that Okoro was able to take part in some contact drills and practiced as much Thursday as he did the previous day.
Okoro is viewed as sort of the “fifth man” behind the likes of guards Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland, power forward Evan Mobley and center Jarrett Allen. But Okoro knows his role, can defend the opposing team’s best guards or small forwards and plays with energy and resolve.
Translation: The Cavs need him, especially when matched against a team such as the Knicks in a series that presumably could go either way.
I have more on the Cavs and their looming return to the playoffs right here, and we will have more on Okoro as the news becomes available.
