Veteran Nuggets forward Jeff Green has just one message for his teammates: End this thing.
Green and the Nuggets lead the Western Conference finals vs. the high-profile Lakers, 3-0, with a chance to advance on Monday in LA.
And put the Lakers out of their pro hoops misery is exactly what the Nuggets should do, Green said, via Harrison Wind of DNVR Sports.
“We have to end it. We can’t give (LeBron James) life. Tomorrow, it has to end,” Green said on Sunday, referring to Game 4.
Meanwhile, coach Michael Malone suggested he hopes the Nuggets learned from their first-round series. That’s when they led the Timberwolves by a 3-0 count, only to lose Game 4 in Minnesota, before returning to Denver to wrap it up.
“Talk is cheap. We’ve got to go in there and do it,” Malone said, via Wind. “We had the same opportunity against Minnesota and lost Game 4.”
- Star center Nikola Jokic indicated the Nuggets’ ball movement is what’s carried them all season. And why stop now? “It’s so, how do you say it, when you, like poison?” Jokic said, via Wind. “It’s contagious. Yeah, and I love it. I think that’s the best brand of basketball. At least everybody enjoying.”
- Standout guard Jamal Murray agreed. “We’re just a very unselfish team,” he said. “It may not be your night, it may not be your quarter.” But the Nuggets will keep plugging away, looking for the hot hand. Quite often these days, they find it.
- In case you missed it, I wrote about how the Nuggets may be a surprise to you, but this is just the way they’ve been playing all season. Honest. You can check out the full column here.
