The Nuggets finished with the best record and No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, but not in the entire NBA. In fact, they don’t even have the best record of the teams still standing.
That, of course, would be the Celtics. But the Celtics currently trail the Heat by a 3-1 series count in the East finals. Still, there’s a segment of the NBA fan base that believes Boston could come back and win. For the record, teams that are down 3-0 in the NBA playoffs are 0-150 lifetime. (But hey, someone has to do it, right?)
Anyway, the Celtics finished the regular season at 57-25 for the second seed in the East. The Nuggets went 53-29. The Heat were 44-38 and were the East’s eighth and final seed.
So if the Nuggets play the Celtics in the Finals, they won’t have home-court advantage. If they play the Heat, they will. Below are the schedules of each scenario (all times Eastern):
