The Cavaliers have officially signed free agent center Tacko Fall, according to RealGM’s transactions log, via Eli Cohen of Hoops Rumors.
Fall’s deal is nonguaranteed, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania, who first reported the news.
Fall, 25, is 7-foot-5 and spent his first two seasons with the Celtics. He was the tallest NBA player last season and is among the tallest known people in the world.
He appeared in a total of 26 games in 2020-21, averaging 2.7 points and 2.6 rebounds. Most of his time was spent in the G League, where he blocked nearly 4.0 shots a game.

The signing of Fall is likely on a tryout basis, as the Cavs currently have 14 players under contract. But Fall could be headed to the G League with the Cleveland Charge.
“The Cavaliers have no shortage of big men, especially after the sign-and-trade for Lauri Markkanen, but Fall could be a solid insurance policy, given the injury concerns between Markkanen and Kevin Love,” Cohen wrote.
As it stands, Fall will be vying for a spot in a big man rotation that also includes Love, Markkanen, Jarrett Allen and rookie Evan Mobley.
