Star guard Kyrie Irving has been linked to several others teams, but from the sounds of things, you can forget it.
Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Irving is highly likely to return to Mavericks in free agency.
Interestingly, Irving is the only unrestricted free agent this summer who played in the All-Star Game. So that makes him the most valued unrestricted free agent. Honestly, though, the Lakers are the only other team to which Irving has been linked.
But reports suggest the Lakers aren’t about to gut the team of the assets it would take to land Irving, either via a direct signing or a sign-and-trade. And Dallas traded for Irving in February with the intention of keeping him and building around Irving and fellow star Luka Doncic.
Per Wojnarowski, the “full expectation” is that Irving will indeed return to the Mavs on a new deal.
The “full expectation” is Kyrie Irving will re-sign with the Mavericks once free agency begins, per @wojespn:
– Legitimate places Kyrie would even consider leaving Dallas for are “extremely limited, perhaps almost nil.”
– Money aspect won’t be an issue for Irving’s new deal… pic.twitter.com/lmqT8C0cME

Along with that, Marc Stein of The Stein Line wrote that two sources close to the process say “Irving has consistently expressed a desire to remain a Maverick and actually wants to shut down the notion that he’s angling to get to L.A.”
