The Pacers are sending shooting guard Chris Duarte to the Kings in exchange for future draft picks, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Duarte, 26, appeared to be the odd man out after taking a step back this past season, following a strong rookie year. The Pacers are also trying to add wings in free agency, with Heat guard/forward Max Strus being the name mentioned most.
Meanwhile, the Kings have been looking for perimeter shooting off the bench, and Duarte will perhaps be getting another opportunity to repeat his first season.
The 13th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Duarte averaged 13.1 points and shot 37 percent on 3-pointers as a rookie. But his role diminished in 2022-23 after the addition of talented wings Bennedict Mathurin and Aaron Nesmith.
The Kings will have around $15 million in cap space after acquiring Duarte’s $4.1 million salary, per Yossi Gozlan of HoopsHype.
The Sacramento Kings now have about $15M in cap space remaining after acquiring Chris Duarte.
More realistically, they're working with around $12.5M when factoring in the $3.4M cap hold of Trey Lyles.
They'll also have the $7.7M room mid-level. https://t.co/OVlDOFYuLT
