Bulls guard Zach LaVine has been in trade rumors most of the offseason, starting at about the time of the draft. But if the Bulls had a LaVine trade, they likely would have executed it by now.
Perhaps that’s one reason LaVine says he doesn’t expect to be traded.
“I always rep my city whichever team I’m playing for to the best,” LaVine said, via Ryan Taylor of NBC Sports Chicago. “And Chicago’s loved me and called me one of their own since I’ve been there. I don’t see anything happening anytime soon. But if it does, Chicago always has my love.”
LaVine could indeed be safe as a member of the Bulls for now. But who knows what will happen when the Trail Blazers finally trade star guard Damian Lillard? A third team could be involved. The same could be said about the James Harden drama with the 76ers.
For the record, LaVine hasn’t been linked to any other team or potential trade package. He’s just sort of listed as available by the media. For now, the Bulls intend to bring him back, by most accounts.
As for the rumors, LaVine indicated he doesn’t let them get him down.
“I’ve been with the Bulls for seven years,” he said. “I’ve had my name in trade talks,” LaVine said. You don’t love it, but you understand the business. I’ve been traded before, so you understand it.”
"I don't see anything happening anytime soon. But if it does, Chicago always has my love."
