The Trail Blazers are seemingly ready to wheel and deal and finally trade star guard Damian Lillard.
And they will certainly be looking to add some real talent in return. That list may include Suns center Deandre Ayton, as Phoenix could act as a facilitator to move Lillard elsewhere (presumably the Heat).
At least, that’s the latest from Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.
“One piece of the developing Lillard negotiations that seems clear: Portland has strongly considered acquiring Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton as part of a multiteam deal for Lillard,” Fischer wrote.
In order to make this happen, Portland not only would have to trade Lillard, but perhaps starting center Jusuf Nurkic as well, Fischer noted.
But if you have to trade Lillard (and perhaps Nurkic), you could do worse than get a talent such as Ayton in return. He could fit well with the rest of the Blazers’ young cast.
And the Suns seemingly have been open to trading Ayton for the last few seasons. So maybe something could be worked out here — as time now quickly ticking away before the start of training camp in early October.
