The Thunder are planning to sign former Michigan point guard Zavier Simpson to an Exhibit 10 contract, according to JD Shaw of Hoops Rumors.
Simpson, 24, is 6-foot-0 and went undrafted in 2020. He spent last season with the OKC Blue, the Thunder’s affiliate in the G League. He averaged 9.8 points and 6.1 assists. As Shaw noted, that assist average ranked second in the G League bubble.
He originally signed with the Lakers in November, but was waived less than a month later. A former Mr. Basketball in Ohio, Simpson is highly likely headed back to the Blue.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddy and Kenrich Willams are some of the point guards on the Thunder roster already under contract.
